Joomla Camp 2017 Update

joomlaCamp2017

In conjunction with the New Jersey, New York and Long Island Joomla User Groups, a JoomlaCamp took place Sunday, April 23 held at Sparks Lab in NYC (near Union Square).

Organized by Laura Gordon of the NJ Joomla User Group, there were hands-on workshop of various topics and skill levels covered over several sessions during the day. There were about 14 attendees, including 5 seasoned Joomla Users who acted as mentors. You had the opportunity to suggest a topic of interest to you and one of the mentors would lead it with whoever wanted to participate.  It was a great opportunity to both learn a lot and make great contacts.

One of the many topics covered were some new features of the upcoming new release of Joomla 3.7. Here is a .pdf of a Powerpoint presentation made by Olivier Buisard of Simplify Your Web.

We hope to run another Joomla Camp in the Fall. Consider joining us!

Our Mission

Welcome to the Greater Connecticut Joomla!® User Group. Having a community of users of Joomla!™ is important to learn, share, teach and network. Since the nearest established Joomla!™ user groups are in NYC or New Hampshire, we decided to start a new group for those who find the distance too great to travel every month.

Our purpose is to create a network of Joomla! Users who can offer expertise, experience, and education with those who have interest in Joomla! in the Greater CT area. Since we draw from some distances, we don't meet regularly but will schedule a meeting if there is a topic you would like to share or learn about ( please let the facilitators know).  Currently our main course of communication is via our Meetup.

We occasionally collaborate with both NYC and New England Joomla! user groups and encourage everyone to try to attend one of these more established groups if the opportunity arises.

In the meantime, please join us as we continue to grow in numbers and knowledge.

Everyone has something to contribute . . .
everyone has something to learn.
